Anybody know a good name for shape-shifters?

I'm not looking for a name name, like Ezekiel Shadowcat or Thera Dark-Sun.

Rather, I'd like a descriptive term to refer to one stage of their forms.


A bit of background, if you please:
Certain of my stories contain a variety of shape shifters.
Different types for different stories, but here's a quick-ish rundown.

There may be dragon-like creatures that are capable of taking on any form, as well as other mythical or folklore beings that are known for changing appearance.
That is one class of shifters, and they are typically identified according to their species, or whatever they choose to appear as. (If you don't know that "human" in front of you is a dragon, or you don't want to let anybody else know, you would, naturally, call it human.)

There are the "spiritual" variety, which may range from creatures like the Japanese kitsune (an animal who can take on human form) or humans (like shamans) who can take on animal forms. Such shamans as only change in the mind or spirit still fall under this class.

Most (though not all) are limited to one animal form. Like the first group, they are typically referred to according to species.
However, in addition to the full animal or full human form, some can take on a third, "hybrid" form. This third form would resemble the Anthro found in these definitions--modified according to the animal species, of course--and is frequently referred to as an Anthro. At least until I come up with a better name.

And finally there are the genetically engineered shifters, beings who can range between full animal form and half-human half-animal form (most likely also resembling the Anthros). These never become fully human.
As a "type," they have many different species. But the individuals have exactly two forms: one single animal, and a hybrid shape between that animal and human.
Individuals are, again, often named for their species. But as a "type," they are called Therians.
Why Therians? I picked up the word after reading up on Otherkin communities, and I decided to work it in to the story's world. I might have only meant it as a temporary label, but it's managed to stick.
Specifically, those characters that actually are Therian or know something about them use the name specifically for the engineered group.
Those that don't know much tend to use the word as an umbrella term...not necessarily for all shape-shifters, but to refer to that hybrid form.

Anybody who has read up on shape shifting or Otherkin or a myriad of other similar subjects may recognize the term.
But some may not. Thus this journal.


Now, then, none of these are your traditional werewolf or other such beast.
All of them have full control over the change and over the actions of whatever they change into. None of them are the savage creatures that the term normally implies.
For this reason above others, I would like to avoid calling them anything like a werewolf.



What would be a good descriptive term for the hybrid form?
I don't want to call them "were-insert-animal-here" because...well, werewolves.
I don't want to limit myself to "Therian," just because some readers might not understand it...though I don't think I need to do more than sprinkle other words around.
And I don't want to call them "Anthro," simply because that's the name I picked for the spiritual variety.

Examples of some early phrases:
"Only one of the Therian beast peoples could ever track her."
or
"she shifted back into a Therian were-shape and loped towards the city"
It seems I might need to drop a hint now and again even after the first example has outlived its usefulness. Not to mention "beast people" does not necessarily imply that hybrid shape. Especially in fantasy (and some science fiction), when creatures that are entirely beast can still be sentient "people."
And the second example...well, werewolves.

Or here's one I'd just thought up while replying to one of my readers:
"she shifted back to Therian mid-shape and loped towards the city".
or from said readers' suggestions:
"back to hybrid shape"

Yes? No?
